2002/03, 13,050. It was a different world then though, and crowds across football have risen, so probably comparable

Our crowds are alright. The issue - if there is one - is that our grounds is actually pretty big so the crowds look poor.

This "policy" of counting all season tickets irrespective of whether they attend also gives a false impression anyway, our average crowd is probably a good 1000 below what is stated

Our ground though is perfect if we ever made it back to the sunshine league…..the city can easily handle it. Just need a decent owner like Brentford, Brighton, palace, fulham have…..it’s not rocket science

Just get Snoop Dog to part own the club and turn up for games.
            Guaranteed sell outs apparently!

A Blackburn Rovers fan used the Freedom of Information Act to find out the actual attendance of their home game v Swansea in September. The official attendance was 11,013, but actual numbers in the ground was just over 7000.

Yeah apparently clubs have to report the figure to the police.

May do it myself out of interest

Not only have attendances been poor so have atmospheres.

Poor leadership both board side and fan side to blame.

Re: Have our home crowds been disappointing?

I’ve been disappointed with our attendances, given the style of football I would have hoped to average around 22k since Christmas.

As for the atmosphere, the 12:30 games are dire.

1230 kick offs are a nightmare for us, if my son has a ko beyond 11 (regular), its impossible.
Add to that we often get the time fairly last minute, itÂ’s not helpful city charging more on the day. If I canÂ’t book by Friday morning then thatÂ’s it I wonÂ’t pay over the odds.

Lincoln is a good example, I want to go but will have to wait and see

I think the atmosphere would be improved by moving city fans into the Grange End, moving the family section into the Grand Stand and putting the away fans in the middle of the Canton Stand. Fans seem keen to travel to Cardiff, so give them a bigger allocation.

Do we still have fans leaders then? Even if we did, I don’t see what individual supporters can do to make significant numbers come to games, There were comments around the time our fixtures were released in the summer about how dull it looked with Exeter being the closest thing to a derby. The last time we went straight back up to the second tier in 82/83, we had Newport and Bristol Rovers hallenging at the top and we played them both at home over the Christmas/New Year period. Now, gates were poor in 82/83, no doubt about that, but it was a time when attendances were low throughout the country - my point is that a couple of top of thetable derby games during the holiday period would surely have resulted in a boost for this season’s average gate.

Even with the local derbies, City were only fourth in the 3rd Division attendance rankings for the 82/83 promotion campaign:

                            14,095 - Portsmouth
                            11,764 - Sheffield Utd
                            9,261 - Huddersfield
                            7,036 - Cardiff

I’m one who doesn’t get too worked up about attendances,if fans want/don’t want to go its thier choice.

So are you saying that the fact that we don’t play anyone who is less than a hundred miles from Cardiff has had no effect at all on our gates this season?
