An average size dog, a family pet, produces about 1 ton of CO2 annually. So two dogs do the same environmental damage as one cow.

Additionally dogs tend to be fed commercial food, which has an environmental cost, whilst cows eat mainly natural food.

Isnt it that a dog doesnt produce 1 ton of co2 itself, but it's as a result of producing the food the dog consumes (a lot of cows)?
So people should either ditch their dogs, or change their dogs diet to one which produces less co2.
