Usual caveats on byelections, but this is a stinging defeat and the Tories cant ignore it. A problem all of Boris' making too, as Owen Paterson would have served his 30 day suspension now.

He needs to rapidly shake things up, be strict on those who attended parties and tell us how we quickly get out of covid again or its time for him to move on.

The scale of the defeat is quite something. I thought the Lib Dems may scrape it but 6,000 votes - wow.

AS the resident Tory, are you suggesting Johnson didn't attend these parties himself? Or are you suggesting he engage in some metaphorical self-flagellation?

Tories deserved that wacking , we may now see a more radical Tory of party of old , unlike this centralist based one

I think his appointment as leader would be the last thing Labour or Lib's will want to see .

Maybe the opposition should start supporting him in votes ( oh hang on ? )

At least he went to Winchester and not Eton. Probably way more in touch with reality then?

Tactical voters, sensible too! I would like to see a completely new party attack the Tories. It would represent Labour, Lib Dem, Greens, and everything else anti-Tory. I would call it the Progressive party. I think this would garner younger votes over time.
