Re: Morrisons contact extended until 2023

Another season of 5 at the back and smacking it long to a target man, then change like for at 60 75 & 80 mins

Whether you like him or not, he’s earned a year due to the results. Same as Mick did at the time. Still not sold on his tactics at times and his media interactions are prickly but he’s done everything asked of him.

Now, it’s down to him to kick on and make a tidy career out of it

But will he be backed in the transfer window? We’ll need around 10-12 players to replace those on end of contract & loanees. It’s a big ask, it’s not a few players it’s a full rebuild.

I'd have waited to see if things improved further but if I had to pick someone it would be Rob Edwards at FGR.

Morison has done a decent job, we've beaten the rubbish and we're better at the back. I'm not blown away, I don't get his treatment of Colwill at all and the football is awful at the moment. However, we're comfortably staying up, so I can't complain too much.

Can't argue with a one-year deal. At least this time next year we'll know what we've got.

I think he’s been watching us play in recent games.

Waiting would have been a mistake, even if there are reservations about Morison.

Given we are losing so many players and loanees in the summer there is no way we could have waited.

The rebuilding has to start now.. deciding which players to negotiate new contracts with, who leaves and who to start targeting new players.

We need them in pretty quickly so they can have a good preseason.

I am not sure how anyone can claim we are playing the same now as per MM - we are passing it out from the back more, getting it wider and much less reliant on set pieces. Our passing success rate has improved dramatically. I suggest people look at the stats websites.

Do we still play too many long balls? Yes... but we are still a team in transition and I think Morison has worked a miracle... not only keeping us up with THE weakest city squad we have had since we got promoted to the Championship, but also started to evolve the playing style.

Tellingly he said last week that "everyone knows we don't have wingers" - and my feeling is he would like to play with wingers and I think the transition from ZERO wingers to getting around 3 or 4 wingers on loan and changing the formation completely, was probably a risk he didn't think was worth making in a relegation battle.

Apart from the youngsters he took over a squad with ZERO pace, ZERO wingers and ZERO creativity (apart from Giles)... so I am amazed that people are unhappy with how he has done.

Probably the sensible approach, but it will be interesting to see the make up of the squad he's built, in 12 months time, in terms of loans and players towards the end of their contracts.

Great to see, hope he proves all the glass half empty miserable buggers in here wrong. Could appoint Pep and someone would moan.

Haven’t watched us once since Mick McCarthy left then

Spot on - absolutley delighted we have some certainty - he has already indicated they have been working behind the scenes identifying players whether it was him or someone else who needed to rebuild. Essential as we have a shorter summer break than usual due to the world Cup so getting business done as quickly as possible is essential so certainty on who players were signing for managerial wise was crucial

Really impressed with his last couple of interviews including the detail he is receiving on players out on loan and know he had his critics over a couple of spiky interviews but I feel his post match interviews are generally honest and more recently have been more measured especially the ones right after the game when emotions are at their highest

A miracle? Do you think there's a possibility you might be overstating it a touch?

I'm glad Morison has been given a contract. He's done enough to warrant it and it'll make things interesting during the coming months. I'm surprised it's just a year, though. While that may seem a sensible move by the club, it doesn't suggest the board have got much confidence in the manger. You rarely see players signing one-year contracts, let alone managers.

Think the club got their fingers burned with McCarthy's two year deal.
