Who on earth would think he’s left wing?
I just think he holds traditional Conservative Christian values, no stronger than an average Muslim on most issues.

I’ve watched a lot of his videos today and I don’t think he is racist or homophobic or at least doesn’t hold any dislike for gay people or people of colour.
He has said some controversial things for sure, for example “The Black Pilot” conversation…in context, he was saying that due to United’s hiring policy…x amount of pilots should be black or female.
He sited other DEI hires where standards have slipped and looking at a Black Pilot today…could make you wonder if that was a DEI hire whereas before he wouldn’t think twice about it.

Plenty of examples of him debating Gay people, with respect and kindness.

Stephen King had to issue an apology today for saying that CK wanted to Stone Gays!
    It’s ridiculous.

Anyway here is something that I read today that resonated….

I never paid much attention to Charlie Kirk, he seemed very America focused & I am not American, & I find the "OWNED! DESTROYED!" type video titles really off-putting. I'd completely missed that he interviewed Kara Dansky & Richie Herron, a radical feminist & a gay man I admire.

Now, since his murder, I see lots of people saying he was racist, homophobic, a misogynist, & a fascist...but these seem to be people who never knew him personally, sometimes sharing tiny clips with no context.

When I look around I see:

Black people saying he treated them well, is this what a racist does?

Same sex attracted people saying he treated them well, is this what a homophobe does?

Women, with various political beliefs, saying he treated them well, is this what a misogynist does?

Am I supposed to believe that all of this was acting? A ruse? A clever masterplan, hiding his true evil bigoted face, & all these people have fallen for it?

Because that seems not only far-fetched & paranoid but rather condescending, infantilising, an act of removing agency from people of the marginalised groups you fetishise because they do not agree with you...one might say racist, homophobic, & misogynistic.

The other thing I see are videos of Charlie Kirk himself, again & again saying we have to talk to each other, respectfully, despite our differences, otherwise we foster a culture which will lead to violence...is this what a fascist does?

Because I do not think so, I think the fascists are the ones who kill their political opponents to stop them having a voice.

A difficult watch yes, but because she wants to continue a culture war. Meanwhile, as everyone and their dog has a say about the man whose murder that was, and probably still is, freely available to watch online, no one bats an eyelid about the hundreds of schoolchildren who have died in the same way in recent years in “the land of the free” at the hands of nutters with easily available guns.

This article says it’s not as straightforward as that. While no one should condone the method he used as a reaction to what he was feeling, if it is true that he felt despair at the way both sides were reacting to the chasm that divides them in modern day America then the apparent recent change in his thinking can be understood, That’s not excusing what he did, it’s an acceptance that the potential for something like this to happen is far higher in modern day America than in any time in my life apart from, maybe, the late 1960s.

I despair at the State of politics in general.
Not just the politicians that we have had over the last 10 years or so…but the absolute vicious polarization that we now see.
Point Scoring at any given opportunity and teeth bared to anybody who dares disagree.
The Right do the same, but I honestly think that the modern day left are more fervent in their intense hatred.
This is just my opinion and I wish that it wasn’t.
Of course, I might have been brainwashed or radicalized online, have cognitive bias and live in online echo chamber. I do try to see things from different sides and sources though.

It’s my opinion that the Left, left me.
It started around 2014 for me, escalated in 2016, put on the afterburners in 2017 and have kept heading the same direction ever since.

The left that I knew, were kind, compassionate, non discriminatory, progressive but balanced.
I felt like I was on the side of good.

Now I firmly believe that The Left have lost their ****ing minds after fully embracing post modernism and identity politics.

Now, I think that they are radical, oppressive, totalitarian, puritanical ideologues.
I don’t think that the left has a love of nations anymore. Maybe they have been true internationalists when I was younger, but to me…they were always on the fringes.
Now, it seems that there is a dislike of country and disdain for those who still like the country and culture that they grew up in.
They certainly do not represent the working class anymore in my opinion.
It says something when “The Red Wall” are drifting towards an obvious charlatan and chancer in Farage in their droves.
Moderate Labour voters drifting towards a right leaning party in their droves. It’s nuts to think that this would happen even as recently as 2010.

Obviously Trump and Brexit are HUGE factors which really deepened the chasm…

              Again, just my opinion.
I still believe in Trade Unions, The NHS, a Benefit System to help those that need it, Gay Marriage and adoption, abortion, social equality and decriminalization of drugs.
I still dislike Corporate Greed, The US Healthcare/Insurance system.

I’ve said it before…I think I belong in the category of Blue Labour…or a Hybrid of Ralph Nader/Ross Perot over here.
I'm puzzled why you appear to think love of nation/country is somehow good. To me it's neither; it's purely a governing organisation which can be and always has been subject to change. On the other hand I can understand why love of our planet and it's precious life is sacred and should be cherished.

I have to say all the left of centre friends I know are kind, compassionate, progressive and balanced but I can't speak of those in the US of course. Incidentally I agree with all you've listed on your penultimate paragraph so we've got to be on the same page somewhere.

Yes it was a bad omission on my part but I'm curious as to why you think her a more obvious example than OBL; is it her gender perhaps?

It's basically a dog whistle and green light to the crazies. There will be many more difficult watches in the USA to come.

I find it difficult to watch because its like an episode off fox news with the make up , lighting and dramatic pauses

I find this disturbing and so " American "

Shes been through shocking trauma I find it this bizarre

Thanks for sharing; few people in 2025 in the UK will be able to see beyond the political side of this.

However I agree with her words, and the impact of this will go much further than 9/11 in changing the hearts of not only individuals in the USA, but millions across the world.

It really wont. Most people on this planet don't even know who Charlie kirk is, i didn't before he was shot dead. The problem here is peoples obsession with these blowhards in American politics who seem to serve those people who come across as either grossly unhappy or disengaged, and the narrative is to appease and recruit these people. I watched a couple of minutes of one of these debates, and they's just crude and basic, one person attempting to make the other look small. It's really sad. People need to put down the internet, get rid of X, stop watching vile Youtube videos and do something a bit more positive with their time, instead of clinging on to these awful people who compound (But offer no solutions) these individuals already existing fears and frustrations. It's all a bit ****ing grim.

Agree with this. Trump had an assassination attempt barely a year ago and the news moved on in no time. The idea that this is going to be bigger than 9/11 is mad.
