With what I've just read, they've (Posh) just spent 500k on his replacement. That would give a better idea what we've offered and what we'll probably end up paying should we make another offer.

The Peterborough fan reaction is interesting. We say the same about players like Kanga, Ojo and Bacuna, but he's scored 11 for them already this season, 13 last season, plus some assists. Might not be the answer to all our prayers, but doesn't look like the record of a player you'd be only too pleased to see the back of.

Usually, the selling club’s messageboards are as good a place as any to look for accurate opinions on a transfer target, but maybe when the player is not signing a new contract and is probably looking to leave is an exception to that rule.

I honestly don't know, I like the rest of us, haven't seen him play. But he's only 22 , the fastest player in the UK, is 6'1" and has a pretty good scoring record for a struggling team. He's the only league one attacker being linked in the gossip columns with bigger clubs (Middlesbrough, Freiburg and of course the mighty Bluebirds) at a price of £2m ish.

So, I'm presuming he's pretty high in the League 1 talent pool, one of the best. But then, I remember Gavin Gordon ...

Cardiff City are seeking a loan deal for midfielder Lewis O’Brien

O'Brien was excellent for Huddersfield before signing for Forest. He would be a top signing for us and a step up on Siopis and Ralls v2025. He didn't make it in the Premier League but he'd be one of the better midfielders in the Championship. It would have to be a loan, because he's got 18 months left of a Premier League contract.

The downside is that I presume there will be higher placed teams than us after his signature.

It really doesn't.

In the context of a tribunal deciding his worth should he run down his contract it really does. Because of his age at the start of the season the Posh are entitled to compensation. Not an exact science but an indicator as I said.

Bristol press now saying Rovers have lost out to Exeter.

Hope the new loan works out wherever it is. Would be a shame for him to spend the rest of the season only playing sporadically when he could have carried on playing regular football at Cheltenham.

I think there were some similarly bullish statements when it was obvious Kieffer Moore was leaving us
