Maybe Biancheri was all speculation. Or maybe this is why he didn't sign.

Yet again the club has appeared to have fecked up.

And, in my opinion, we were never going to sign anyone early in the window - if a player really wants to come here, he’ll be prepared to wait a few days for the embargo to be lifted and, if it’s not lifted, he’ll be relieved to have had a narrow escape.

I am no fan of the trust but that is a bit harsh. It explains that the problem was with the auditor who failed to sign off the accounts. Glen Williams' would seem to indicate the same by saying the problem was out of the clubs hands.

The test will be in 7 days. If the transfer embargo is lifted then this is just a storm in a tea cup

Judging by the guidance in the Twitter post, this relates to clubs who were in the Championship in 2024/25. If this is not a new rule (and I don't think it is as I believe CCFC has previously been under an embargo at this time of year for the exact same thing), then the club would have been well aware of it, having been in the Championship for decades.

I can't believe the club's staff are so incompetent that they didn't realise this applied after relegation to League One. My suspicion is it involves a bit of creative accounting, so to speak.

It appears to have nothing to do with the club staff. The auditor who has to sign off the accounts somehow failed to do so. The auditor would not work for CCFC as they need to be independent of the club.

Not if it’s resolved within a week , and the club have also insisted it will not affect their transfer plans this month despite seeing a number of players go on loan.

I disagree. When the staff at the club can't complete basic sdmin on time, like every other club does, there is a problem.
