Port Vale Football Club can confirm that Adeteye Gbadehan has signed a short-term contract that will see him stay at the Vale Park until at least January 2024.

Norwich City Academy midfielder Michael Reindorf has joined Kettering Town in a short-term loan deal.

It looks like Louis Phillips and Dan Barton were the only two U18's who were released at the conclusion of their scholarships

We haven't had much success over the recent past. Conte the only glimmer of hope (and his 1st team 'success' is not reflective of his U21 performances).

These signings always appear to be agent pleasers rather than skilled investments. I'm not sure I agree with them. We don't need depth at this level we need opportunities. These signings will restricted this for the others. Although the U21 squad probably could have done with an additional striker.

Sad to see Barton go - thought he was very good in that Youth Cup game with Fulham.

He wasn't the biggest or the most athletic. Whilst his left footedness would have been in his favour, Mafico a year younger (also left footed) had clearly overtaken him. A good player though, who could still make it at a lower level somewhere.

His little brother, Mannie, is the better prospect. I hope that Dan being released doesn't deter Mannie from signing his scholarship with us.

his brother played for Stoke, maybe he had good things to say about their setup

Regarding the Japhet Matondo transfer to Stoke it is interesting to see the anti Darren Purse frenzy on the other board as if it must be all his fault. My immediate reaction was that, if he is that good, he must have a problem visualising a pathway into the first team.

As under 21 manager, I would have thought Darren Purse would have little input into the situation regarding Matondo - he barely played for Purse’s team. I don’t get to see as much of under 18 players as I once did, but, based on what I have seen, there are quite a few who I would have been more concerned about losing than him.

Quite right. The anti Purse clique on the other board cite him as “ Cardiff City Star “ . Not exactly.

Good post. Matondo wasn't 1st choice for the U18's last season (he did have some injury problems). He was a peripheral player.

He's a year younger than Ashford who plays the same position and is the same age as Nyakhuwa who was the pick of last years U18 and will probably the next academy graduate to make a 1st team debut. His best position, like Matondo, is also inverted left wing/inside left.

I think Matondo has chosen to leave because he could see his path to first team opportunities blocked/complicated by Ashford and Nyakhuwa.

Cole Fleming is also a right footed winger.

Ironically the only thing the other board appear to hate as much as Purse are our Academy players.

They also do this weird thing of adding a year or two to young players ages. Colwills increases with every post, I think they think he's in his 40's.

We will get a decent compensation payment from Stoke too.
