Re: Red weather warning
I am convinced that ever since the ‘incident’ with the hurricane and Michael Fish, the Met Office and BBC have both deliberately exaggerated the likelihood of severe weather episodes, so as not to make themselves look stupid. There is no doubt that it is windy out there this morning and I don't live on the coast but it is nowhere near as windy here as they forecast yesterday and certainly it was much windier in the night about a week ago when my roof slates were rattling, when they had forecast a moderate breeze. For the last week their mission appears to have been to frighten the living daylights out of the general population on the basis that there would be no comeback on them whatever happened. If you watched Derek Brockway yesterday evening on BBC Wales, then the look on his face and words indicated that we were all doomed.

Don't know about frightening the general population but the Met Office and the BBC certainly seemed to have spooked the UK Government who have called an emergency COBRA meeting and put the military on standby.Originally posted by dml1954 View PostI am convinced that ever since the ‘incident’ with the hurricane and Michael Fish, the Met Office and BBC have both deliberately exaggerated the likelihood of severe weather episodes, so as not to make themselves look stupid. They will always deliver a worst case scenario in broadcasts to cover themselves.Originally posted by dml1954 View PostI am convinced that ever since the ‘incident’ with the hurricane and Michael Fish, the Met Office and BBC have both deliberately exaggerated the likelihood of severe weather episodes, so as not to make themselves look stupid. The 1987 storm and Michael Fish broadcast is always highlighted because of the viewer's letter he refers to and him assuring us that the hurricane definitely won't happen. The Met Office and broadcasters don't want that happening again.

Re: Red weather warning
I remember the drivel you came out with two years ago at the time of Storm Dennis I think it was when you were having a go at supporters who didn’t make it to the Wigan match. You thought it was okay everywhere because it wasn’t too bad in Cardiff so I don’t think I’ll pay too much attention to what you think about the current situation thanks.Originally posted by dml1954 View PostI am convinced that ever since the ‘incident’ with the hurricane and Michael Fish, the Met Office and BBC have both deliberately exaggerated the likelihood of severe weather episodes, so as not to make themselves look stupid. Re: Red weather warning
Do you think the reporters are the ones asking for Covid restrictions/for people to stay at home or do you think they're, you know... reporting the fact that those things are being asked for by for example the Met Office, or the NHS. Think now, take your timeOriginally posted by TWGL1 View PostThese same reporters were asking for more restrictions during the pandemic, it’s ok for them as they can work through and not be affected by loss of income etc
