Re 6 I don’t believe that is for you to decide though . If you start to label people like Hilary did and the basket of deplorables etc then it’s game over and trump has wonOriginally posted by az city View Post1. You misquoted me: I said "rational, honest".
2. I didn't express any political opinion in describing the coalition of Trump supporters. Those are the core groups that support him.
3. Some of Trump's supporters are rational, many are not.
4. The irrational may be honest. But then they are stupid. They are lied and lied and lied to by Fox News and the like.
5. Leave the Democrats' dilemma out of it.
6. I repeat - no rational, honest person could vote for Trump.

This has gone way beyond politics. These are the irrational actions, beliefs and gestures of a dangerous but very powerful cult. Crazy would not do it justice: Frightening is a much better description but still short of the truth.Originally posted by the other bob wilson View PostThese aren't "sheeple" though - sheeple are the ones who were all wearing masks three and four years ago.

The World will be in a far more perilous place after November unless a true miracle does happen!
There should be a message here for all democracies. Be vigilant or the loonies will take over the asylum.

Re: The Grand Old Party.
I think this is a really interesting post and you make some poignant and extremely valid points. It's a good argument and one that should make us carefully analyse.Originally posted by pipster View PostLet me play devils advocate for a moment..
You said “no rational person could vote for him” and maybe that’s right, but if the majority do vote for him and you don’t, maybe you aren’t the rational one?
Just because people dont share your political opinion it doesn’t make them irrational?, that is the swamp area mindset of certain people on here. The “you’re all scum scum scum” rant of Raynor etc
To turn on its head, trump will win because ‘rational’ democrats think a dementia ridden oap is the only option to lead the free world. To me that makes them irrational, if democrats could rationally sort their sh1t out they should be able to eat trump for breakfast
But the part in bold is key. It's this point that anyone opposed to Trump and his politics or ideology need to grasp. The Democrats are sh*t. The official opposition to Trump is sh*t. I don't think it can be put any more eloquently than Pipster has. I'd prefer not to use the term 'dementia-ridden' but Biden is wholly unsuitable to be running for presidency and is making Trump look like a statesman in comparison.
To be honest, I think what the Democrat Party is doing by endorsing Biden and putting him in this position is cruel. If this was a member of your family you'd be seeking care and rest. It's wholly unacceptable imo what is going on on both sides.

I know Putin is a nasty piece of work but I don’t feel as threatened and angst ridden with him in Moscow than I do at the prospect of these loons being our ‘allies’ over there.Originally posted by Dorcus View PostThis has gone way beyond politics. Neither do I 👍 These loons over the Atlantic are mad, bad and dangerous. Re: The Grand Old Party.
Seems to me that the broad coalition of the traditional Republican Party that AZ set out hasn't changed that much. In recent history it always had moneyed patricians, Wall St warriors, libertarians, (gun loving and otherwise) and the Christian Fundamentalist of the bible belt and "flyover" states.
In essence Trump has performed a hostile business takeover so the patrician Republicans are being squeezed or cowered.
Because of the Trump cult it has added a cadre of the neglected and resentful white working class, Hilary's deplorables. It could be a winning number, though it wasn't last time around if the anti-Trump coalition comes out in sufficient numbers to vote for a Democratic candidate they can get behind.
The problem for traditional Republicans is twofold, getting the genie back in the bottle and how do you produce a set of coherent policies that pay the moneyed backers without letting on to the "deplorables" that they have been suckered?

The inevitability is that the genie will light the touch paper for an unholy civil war. Armed insurrection is inevitable and it's conceivable the US will have the map of many of it's states redrawn.

What do you mean "decide"? I am calling it as I see it, from close up. How many Trump supporters have you ever spoken to?Originally posted by pipster View PostRe 6 I don’t believe that is for you to decide though . Clinton was correct. If I see a bigoted idiot, I call it as I see it.
And in case you haven't noticed, Trump is going to win.
