If there is a caucus that stops Trump winning it is because in pivitol states enough people were motivated to want Trumpism gone from US politics and have a coherent alternative not because some Taffs think his followers are in rehearsal for Deliverance 2!

A recent poll by NY Times puts Kamela Harris ahead of Trump if she ran against him in every swing state. That's where the battle will be won. I'd prefer Michelle Obama myself

If I hadn't met dozens of these people and really tried to understand them, I would agree with you. Trump has created a cult. His base cannot be reasoned with. I have tried and they won't even admit basic facts. There is no way of persuading them. The other groups I mentioned in his coalition are the real deplorables because they aren't stupid and know right from wrong - they are simply exploiting the situation to line their own pockets and/or promote extreme beliefs.

The election isn't going to be won by appealing to Trump's base. The way forward is for the Democrats to stop worrying about their own party's internal wrangling, politely push Biden to one side and then put up a consensus candidate that all reasonable people can get behind.

I am not interested in trying to change the minds of idiots like that

They are completely lost as are the reform headbangers

There's having a point of view and there's invading Washington DC

These people are straight off the set of deliverance

I don't think we are disagreeing. The likelihood of the Trump cultists changing their views is close to zero. In four years of Trump some may think thet have been sold snake oil. I was just repyling to Sludge's simplistic nonsense that just because surely enough people can't have bought Trump's snakeoil to get him over the line because they are simpletons!

For his benefit, if enough simpletons are energised and enabled to vote and others find it more difficult or the candidate turns people away from the ballot box then don't be surprised about the outcome!

                    It's surely too late now

The poor state of Biden is a huge disadvantage but after the assassination and all the sympathy vote and trump milking it is there any chance of the Democrats winning if , as they must, they elbow Biden?

Well the fact is that the you tube video outlines all the utter sleaze and corruption of trump yet people either want that , are ignoring the evidence or are utterly stupid

It's a combination of all 3 with a heaving leaning on stupid

The last time you checked on democracy how many votes does an utterly stupid person get compared to one that is utterly clued in?

But Sludge....I think the YouTube video is gross and offensive and I f*cking loathe Trump so what will his supporters think? I don't think it helps. It's not like this stuff is being shared around the office circa 1995. It's mainstream. As AZ says, it's clear it's a cult or at least, that's the deliberate psychology Trump and his team are using i.e. that of cult tactics.

Biden needs to go. As I said earlier. It's f*cking cruel.

                              Same

Doesn't mean the Trump fruit loops are going to listen to reasoned debate

It's partisan enough in this country but apart from

I can't stand the Tories but if they had won the election a combination of a crap and divided opposition and a few moderate one nation Tories holding the Fort would have been tolerated by most of those who didn't vote for them

Trump and his crew won't accept demoracracy they have proved that way before the Washington dc invasion
