In my opinion him losing money in the Sala case is less important than saving face. No matter what some may say he is a successful businessman, his wealth proves that. He’s probably gained and lost on many deals during his career, no doubt the losses hurt but it goes with the territory. I s’pose he could have paid the original transfer fee in this case and the matter would have been done and dusted years ago but he’s been like a dog with a bone over it, I really do believe that it’s become a stubbornness on his part, a determination to win the case, whatever the cost to him. I doubt that if there was a payout it would affect his lifestyle one iota.

I’d hazard a guess a lot only go as it’s a social event catching up with mates or family and don’t want to miss out on doing that because of some inept buffoon who lives 1000’s of miles away and cares not one bit about ccfc…..

Put it this way, if I was as bitter and twisted about the owner and the colour change as you , (so much so that you were not stepping back in the stadium) I would have stuck to my word.

You on the other hand continue to knock the club at every opportunity. You’re so entrenched in your blinkered mentality that you simply cannot understand that without the current regime’s financial support the club would possibly cease to exist. Are you saying this is not true ? Are you saying the owners don’t help with cashflow to the sum of £12m per season ? Do you know for definite that the current owners would accept considerable amounts of loses if the club is sold ?

Back in mid-2012, I said I wouldn’t support the team while City played in Vincent Tan’s ridiculous red home shirts and I never did. I got a refund on my season ticket in July 2012 and didn’t attend a single game home or away during the subsequent four seasons (2012/13 to 2015/16) despite the rebrand being reversed in January 2015.

My first game post-rebrand was away at Fulham in August 2016. I was on a coach trip that had been arranged by a mate for another mate’s birthday. I sat in the Craven Cottage neutrals section during the game, which finished 2-2. I then attended the 2-0 defeat at Burton in October 2016 on another birthday away day. That was it for me until January 2017, when I attended the home game against Burton as a guest of the stadium manager following the death of a close friend (the club had asked me to write a piece about him for the programme and a tribute that was read out at half time).

When the rebrand was confirmed in June 2012, I also vowed that I wouldn’t spend another penny at the club while Vincent Tan was the owner. I stuck to that pledge for almost a decade until May 2022, when I decided to buy a season ticket for the 2022/23 campaign.

I’d been to plenty of home games between January 2017 and May 2022, but had never actually bought a ticket (it just so happens that this particular ‘loner’ has plenty of City-supporting friends, so there were often spare tickets available if I wanted them). While I didn’t care too much about the results anymore and the football itself was often grim, I always enjoyed the days out with friends.

Covid-19 and some significant changes to my personal circumstances altered my outlook in 2022. After careful consideration, I concluded I should no longer let the fact that an old man in Malaysia owns Cardiff City stand in the way of me enjoying regular time with some of my closest friends while watching a bit of football.

I appreciate my decision to return didn’t meet with the approval of a tiny number of anonymous nobodies on an internet message board, but that’s neither here nor there as far as I’m concerned. I was welcomed back into the fold with open arms by everyone whose opinions I valued and also by numerous other friends and acquaintances, and that’s what counts.

As for your questions about the Emperor Tan and his minions, I’ll answer them one by one:

Would the club 'possibly' cease to exist without the current regime’s financial support? Possibly. But, in my opinion, almost certainly not.

Do the current mob put £12 million per season into the club? I’ve honestly got no idea – I haven’t downloaded the club’s accounts since 2012. If you have, then perhaps you can provide a detailed breakdown of the amounts Tan and Co have been putting in and explain why they’ve been doing so.

Do I know for definite that the current owners would accept considerable losses if the club was to be sold? No I don’t, and I’ve made no suggestions they would. I’ve got no idea what they would or would not do in such a scenario.

As for an agenda, it’s just plain weird that anyone would believe someone like me posting opinions about a football club and its owners on a message board like this amounts to an agenda. Do you think perhaps you’re taking this stuff a tad too seriously?

I have another question for you: are you aware that plenty of fans who didn’t boycott the club during the rebrand despise Vincent Tan?
