You really believe all of the people outside Russia are responsible for what goes on there? We cannot control what’s happening there and neither can the elected politicians of the Western Alliance nor any other Country.

It was in reply to a comment relating to a $100M Yacht being refurbished in Hamburg. That kind of obscene personal wealth comes via global capitalism. It's in Hamburg so that's German engineering and facilities. We're all responsible for global capitalism. That was the context. As far as politicians are concerned, I've posted many times that I despise the lot of them these days. Some political parties happily take Russian money. Mayfair is on the Russian (Putin's) Monopoly board. We can't just abdicate our responsibilities.

Edit: Our own Prime Minister socialises with Russian multibillionaires. The whole system is corrupt. We keep voting these people in. It's just a game to them. Civilians and innocent people will always be in the crossfire. Same as it ever was.

Putin "recognises" the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s "Republics” as “independent” states. Russian troops will be sent in to act as a "peacekeeping force". Here we go.....

Expect a staged false-flag attack on their territory supposedly from the Ukrainian army any day soon, justifying a full scale incursion by Russian troops into western Ukraine.

My thoughts, for what they are worth (not much I know).

• Russia, under Putin, have always been bad actors on the global stage.
• Our government literally did NOTHING of note while the Russian state killed people on our own soil.
• Russian money have long since been funnelled into our politics and especially (over the last 20 years) to the Tory party.
• We have allowed Russian money, from oligarchs, to swish around London - politics, businesses, housing, retail etc
• The UK government buried the Russian report, redacted some of it and paid lip service to the version which was available
• Biden is a weak leader and Blinken is no John Kerry!

Of course Putin wants to expand the Russian empire... it's a major goal of his... BREXIT, Trump and the Tories have all been pawns in their long term plan to destabilise NATO and the EU to create conditions for Russian incursions. Interestingly Putin waited until Angela Merkel retired before this, because she was probably the strongest and most diplomatically astute leader in Europe/World.

So it is hardly surprising that our response to Russian has been wishy washy.

The western media and response have been really poor in reporting. Putin was never going to launch an attack directly on Kiev... but through separatist territories.

In 2018, after the poisoning of Sergei Skripal, NATO called an urgency summit to discuss Russian sanctions. Johnson left it, skipped his security detail & flew to Italy where he met an ex-KGB officer whose son he later ennobled.
