I like Parfitt but he's a bit limited as a full back, there was no one to link the back four to the front six. BBM has spoiled us a bit in that regard but it was very unusual to see it at that level.

The last half hour or so was entertaining to be fair. I don't think Warnock would see Twose and George as a midfield two but they did a good job in making us more of an attacking threat. Barton started to get in the game more and Pearce never stopped but when we lost the ball Watford were excellent on the counter attack.
Do you think we’ll be putting any more youngsters out on loan, or are short on options with the U21.s?
I thought we might have seen a couple going out to the League of Ireland as BBM is bound to have some good connections over there

I was surprised when he made so little impact during his loans while with us and wasn't there a fruitless spell at Colchester as well after he left us?

I hope I'm proved wrong, but I've found County's January transfer dealings fairly underwhelming so far - not sure Nyakuhwa is a player for a Fourth Division relegation scrap and loaning someone who couldn't get in the Shrewsbury side is hardly one to set the pulses racing. Crole's an interesting one though, particularly when you consider that two and a half year contract which they've given him. County clearly see him as part of the club's future and you'd hope that, like one or two other of their signings from the Welsh Premier League, he can make the step up to EFL football, now he's got a bit more experience of doing well in senior football.
I've had a quick look for a post I sent you on here a couple of years ago asking what was happening with Crole but I can't find it. It was somewhere between the two loan spells he had when his progress slowed and he started treading water.

The first time I saw him was that Youth Cup tie with Ipswich where he got the winner. It was the day Tomlin flicked on to Glatzel for the equaliser at Leeds which shows how far back he goes here.

It was onwards and upwards from there but obviously something went wrong. There was talk of him being opinionated and awkward but it's pointless me speculating on why it stalled for him, maybe we'll find out one day.

He seems to have knuckled down at Penybont and hopefully he'll take his chance at League level now, however frustrating that might be for us.

I was wondering this the other night. Loan spells aren't the be all and end all for youngsters, Kpakio, Lawlor, Rubin and Ashford have come through without one, but it must be a bit deflating for some of the senior u-21s if there's no interest in them and no first team call-up either.

I'm certainly no expert but I can't see much changing for now. Tankiewicz is injured, Donczew too young, Barton and George too small. Twose is tidy but doesn't seem to be pushing on. I think BBM likes Kingdon but he's struggled when I've seen him lately.

Luke Pearce is buzzing but I can't quite make out how much quality he's got. He's already had a spell in the League of Ireland but my guess is that BBM would want him here as cover for now.

We'll see. Like I say, I don't see much changing, I reckon the u-21s will carry on on as they are from here with promising u-18s and the odd trialist being brought in but I could be talking bollocks so don't take my word for it.

I think you might see one of the goalkeepers go out on loan. Someone like Apter, who I’ve been impressed by this season, might benefit from playing seniors football and, as Loramski says, Twose seems to be standing still somewhat this season. Jac Thomas might be a candidate for a loan as well.

Morgan Wigley is back from his loan at Barry so the Under-21s should be able to have four subs in their next game now.

A 4-3 win for the u-18s today against QPR. Goals for Jack Sykes(2), Leeyon Phelan and an injury time winner for Leo Papirnyk. They lie third in the table, one point behind Swansea.

Similar team to last week for the under-21s at Bristol City. Wigley and Apter back in and it looks like Sekou Kaba is on the bench. Where's he been?

1-1 at half time. O’Brien equalized with a header from a corner.

The game’s being shown free on Bristol City TV, You have to register to be able to watch it.

Lost 3-1, must say we looked quite lightweight compared to the wurzels.

We talked about how big and physical Bristol City were last season when they bullied our u-18s out of the Youth Cup. Luke Skinner was pretty much unplayable then and I see he scored today too. He's been on loan at Eastleigh and scored twice against York in early November. I assume he got injured because he hasn't played for them since. Just turned 18, one to keep an eye on.

He came off the bench and got the late winner for the u-18s on Saturday too. The David Fairclough of our Academy (if you're under about 90 you might not get that).

Or Ole Gunnar Solskjaer (for the slightly younger).

Yes, that would work. Obviously I don't remember Fairclough myself but my grandad used to tell me about him.
