Agreed. But f*ck me it's depressing isn't it? What do we do? I have no political home. I genuinely feel despondent. Reading Eric's post (which I also think is spot on with the trajectory we're on) just depresses me.

On the disability activism front, it's even worse than before the election. I've just had a load of documents through that help with my advocacy work and it's f*cking awful what Labour have planned.

Seriously. Any 'helpful' suggestions from anyone welcome. I'm not in a good place over this. I don't need fickle, trite, smug, political comments. What are the solutions? All I see is lurching towards a far right future where we're just leaving the vulnerable to die. It's all about money.

We've turned 'do gooders' into political enemies. Inclusivity has become a negative. The rich get richer and the poor get poorer.

Politically, where does anyone with a social conscience go?

I did warn about Starmer on here a number of months ago. He is a nasty, spiteful little man. He joined McSweeney's Labour Together after the 2017 GE which was set up to lie and smear Corbyn. They wanted him to lose both in 2017 and 2019 GE's. They enabled Johnson's victory in 2019.

Labour is now run by right wing zionists. Starmer has not shown an ounce of compassion for the massacre of Palestinians. He would rather a right wing bigot like Natalie Elphicke than a socialist. Reeves is even worse. Truly psychotic....and as for that snake Streeting you only have to see some of his old social media stuff to know how unfit he is to be in front line politics.

Labour performed disastrously in the GE actually polling 600,000 votes less than the catastrophe in 2019. They got away with it because Tory voters stayed at home and the right wing vote was hopelessly split between Con and Reform. They won't be so lucky next time around

600,000 less votes Christ alive….and they lord it like it was some amazing victory, it just emphasizes even more how broken this country is….

I see assisted dying is back on the agenda. It's a good idea in theory, but the way they have shifted the boundaries in places like Canada is quite scary.

Hasn't taken long for people to get furious at Starmers govt has it?

I think he's been grubby and made some daft mistakes, and don't hold great confidence but I think a lot of this criticism is over egged and clearly rooted in some bitterness about how the whole Corbyn era ended

A lot of the complaints about starmer on social media and on the radio come from people who didn't vote for him anyway ! 😆

So they can carry on backing reform or the Tories for all I care

Starmer himself is never a leader but the Tories are about to elect a right wing leader so they may pull some reform voters in but it's not going to change things much

Yeah, it's probably just an anomaly how it's the Labour voters who are most vociferous on here!

The Tories can whinge and moan but starmer has a huge majority and the chances are even if he continues to do very badly he's going to win the next election or form a coalition with the liberals

If people want to spend the next 5 years crying from the sidelines then I say let em get on with it

I think he's crap and some of their policies are crap but I would rather that than the conservatives

I also think there's more going on than just this shift in Labour as well. For the last decade and more, I see the term working class as being used more derogatively. Offering compassion towards others is being replaced more by looking after one's own self. We have a massive economy where those at the bottom are getting continuously worse off, but they don't matter as they're all scroungers and benefit cheats, while those at the top continue to make even more and more money.

I believe there has been a deliberate ploy to make people argue for the resources we get from government, "just look at what someone else is getting". Pensioners argue their tax contributions are now being spent on immigrants, not themselves. The anti-immigration rhetoric is growing under the incorrect perception that they get everything. It's no surprise there's been a rise in fascism.

I reckon in 50 years we'll live in a society that pays little in tax, where those who can't afford it end up sending their kids to woeful state schools not fit for purpose while they have to rely on a charity driven free health service far more overwhelmed than ours is currently. It'll become more survival of the fittest and a removal of people who aren't British. Meanwhile, billionnaires accumulate wealth at even faster rates while homelessness and starving people fight for the few jobs left as automation takes over.

What a time to be alive.
                    Yep fully agree Eric.

Badenoch, Jenrick or Farage? What a choice for the thinking man! I think Starmer and Davey can sleep easy for a long time yet.

I’d made up my mind to vote Labour one more time and then look to vote for someone else from now on, but I made that decision fully expecting life to get at least a bit better because we didn’t have Tories in power, but, there’s absolutely no sign of that happening yet and it takes a special type of ineptitude to lose the goodwill they came into office with so quickly.

You look at what Labour are doing from a non partisan viewpoint and put your head in your hands at how stupid it is. Why put a budget that they keep on telling us will be awful on hold for so long? Why did Starmer seemingly feel he’d get no comeback off the voters for accepting a free pair of a thousand pounds plus glasses? Why does he think paying £6,000 back will get him off the hook when the sum involved is about six times that? Why do sections of the Labour Party dedicate so much time to fighting an “enemy within” rather than other parties? Did they not learn anything from fourteen years of totally inept Government by the Tories, who I see have cocked up by having two nasty people fighting for the leadership by trying to be more right wing than the other after Cleverley and his supporters tried to, allegedly, be too clever by half.

The biggest winner from yesterday’s farce - the Tories can’t even vote for who they want - was Ed Davey no doubt and you are right, Tories in the wilderness has just increased from 10 to 15 years overnight.

It's unbelievable how they managed to cock up such a simple vote; it goes a long way to explain why they were so inept at governing and it's only likely to get worse with the two clowns up for Leadership.

The great news for the sensible majority is that these and Farage Ltd will be marginalized on the far right flank. If people are unhappy with the Labour Party (which they have every right to be in the present circumstances) then I hope they are prepared to give Ed a try rather than go all reactionary and vote for the Creatures from the Black Swamp again.

That's not what the evidence from Europe suggests.
