Your response is sadly what I would have anticipated. I disagree. I watched Question Time on Thursday. The Liberal MP Tim Farron was on the panel and he said he would never accept gifts because he knew that he would not be able to face one of his constituents should they confront him in the street about it. No, they are not all the same.

What they say and what they do are different things, he's a pm is he the higher they get the more they think they can get away with.

Look out. Sir Keir is gonna sound super hard on fraudsters today. All the corporate tax dodgers, offshore millionaires, billionaires, debonaires...he's gonna leave no stone unturned to root out....oh....wait....benefit fraudsters which will save a whopping just over a billion £ in the five years of him taking the throne but what he'll fail to do is differentiate the lumped figure of DWP admin error which is the larger.

He talks about protecting vulnerable people. Does he not realise the systemic contempt and disregard and cruelty towards people with disabilities by the DWP and the privately contracted firms ill-equipped to carry out the most basic medical checks?

He's a Tory. He's George Osborne 2.0. He's as bad as any Tory PM we've had over the last 14 years. I think I loathe him more than the Tories and I really hate that lot. Mainly because he's supposed to be a Labour PM.

99.9% of us would take up an offer like that. The problem is we get all narky when it’s people in public office. It’s what they think they will get in return is the problem and what doesn’t look right.

I'm not sure that many politicians would, as it does clearly look bad. The problem is that this Lord Ali fella will expect something in return or equally riskily will plainly have some dirt on the govt (we all have emails or texts or experiences that we could all hold friends to ransom with if we were that way inclined) but I agree that many would take it and it's a perk etc.

The particular issue with Rayner is that she is has been so consistent and let's face it obnoxious in the past with these things. She criticised Boris Johnson going on holiday and then accused him of allowing children to go hungry by employing a photographer...only to employ a photographer whilst cutting fuel allowances for the elderly. So many people will be gunning for her until she falls.

It's hard to thing of a greater example of a hypocrite.
