Btw….i welcome most of those changes over the years….some are pointless though like EPC. Good landlords like to look after their tenants as I do for 25 years:thumbup:

The government are going to have to come up with a new body to blame because of homelessness soon, because most clued up people know itÂ’s nothing to do with private landlords anymore, lots are selling up which is another thing the government wanted, paying huge amounts of CGT on houses they bought for pennies 30 years agoÂ…..the masterplan
50 years ago 35 percent of people rented their home from either the council , mostly , private landlords ......a smaller amount ...or housing associations

The tories came to power under thatcher

Bang .....several million cou cil houses sold

Bang .....less protection for renters in the private sector ...shorter , less secure rents

Local authorities tried to build more homes from money gained from council house sales but they were prevented from doing so by thatcher

Therfore the perfect storm for tenants ...no council housing as it was being sold off .....need to live somewhere !

In steps the private landlord .....loadsa money to be made , providing housing .....not cheap of course ..all market rents now as protected rents ended by tories

Everyones a winner ....except tenants paying high rents

That's a perverse way of thinking of people. I believe people who make those kinds of statements have psychological problems

The best place to "work" is having your own business. Spend all day on the golf course and get filthy rich while paying staff peanuts! Lovely people!

She's on the "take and make"! She's hardly someone to look up to.

In all seriousness, whilst landlords arent people I will be getting a violin out for, in a country with mass immigration that we have seen, pumping costs onto them is only going to raise rents.

Likewise making it unviable for "local" landlords won't necessarily benefit renters or buyers.

Most of the flats being built in Cardiff city centre now are not available to buy. They will all be owned by big corporation's and pension funds who will Syphon off a profit themselves and rent at extortionate prices accumulating the wealth for themselves.

Goats isn't the enemy. If anyone is, they are. On the other hand, they are funding the flats in the first place I suppose

But personally I think it's appalling these flats are not for sale to the general public

Not sure how you get to that level, generally out of all the people I know, those who earn the most definitely work the hardest, almost have no life other than work which I think is a bit weird to be honest but maybe if I had no kids and stuff I’d do too, who knows

The richest people I've ever known have never worked very hard. In most cases they inherited a wedge of money. Moreover, people who have historically worked harder than most and in often dirty, difficult and sometimes dangerous jobs i.e. Miners, Steelworks never became millionaires. There's a bit of a fantasy built up about this hard work lark.
