Re: Coronavirus update
Not sure where he's got that from. The Private Eye article is saying that the £35m 'all in, all together' advertising campaign that the government ran was meant to be helping all the newspaper industry but the money ended up going to the fat cats rather than independent publishers. You can read in between the lines of that, of course, but it's quite a leap to say the government were sponsoring favourable editorials.Originally posted by the other bob wilson View PostHas this appeared anywhere else? Remember when they spent £200k on this campaign?Originally posted by Loramski View PostNot sure where he's got that from. What do you call an advert dressed as a 4-page investigative report about Universal Credit? Lies and #fakenews. DWP have no shame.

In fairness to the big papers they are at least flagging it as 'sponsored' and mentioning the government.

Can't see the problem with the government wasting millions on what equates to a party political broadcast during a global pandemic where 60,000 people in the country have died?Originally posted by Elwood Blues View PostIf the article makes it plain that it is sponsored by or on partnership with the government I can't see a problem.

You don't think it is a problem that the gov is spending taxpayer money on what is essentially a propaganda piece?Originally posted by Elwood Blues View PostIf the article makes it plain that it is sponsored by or on partnership with the government I can't see a problem.

Re: Coronavirus update
I think it is just slightly less clear than sponsored by. One implies money has the changes hands and the other doesn't. I think I know which one the government would rather they wrote.Originally posted by Elwood Blues View PostWhat is not clear about "Produced in partnership with the UK Government"?
