With BBM wanting to play wide men and happy to use youngsters, there must be some mixed feelings for Spiers, Wigley and Jefferies being sent out on loan but hopefully they will all benefit from it.

I think the plan was to send Nyakhuwa too until Tanner got injured and it probably would've done him good (Luey Giles too) but he's having to learn on the job here while getting limited pitch time and that's often the issue with younger players.

Isaac Jefferies seems to be doing well at TNS and has said he's happy to be playing regular senior games, hopefully Spiers will see it the same way. The Newport game didn't quite go his way and it must've been felt that he needed a bit of 'toughening up' in the men's game. We called him back for an u-21 game in the week so we're keeping him in the loop here.

Keep us in touch with his progress.

Nice bit of play by him. He seems to be moving across the front line, in and out of the starting line-up too, but he features every week so it's definitely progress from his spell at Bristol Rovers. Although it would've been hard to go backwards from there.

A clean sheet for Ethan Horvath as they drew 0-0 at WBA and a start for Roko Simic as Karlsruher beat top of the table Schalke 2-1. Jesper Daland's Fortuna Dusseldorf play at lunchtime.

Ethan Horvath included in the Championship Team Of The Week (or at least one of them) and praised by his manager!

Ok, my Simic scoring alert has gone off twice in the last 20 mins.

I ignored the first one thought it was just on the glitch again but something big might have happened.

Came on at half-time, scored 2 goals and has an 8.1 rating!!! Still lost the game 3-2 though.

Jesper Daland also seems to be doing ok in Germany. Starts every game for Fortuna Dusseldorf (who won 2-1 yesterday). Finishes them too which isn't always the case for City centre halves.

Not much else of note going on lately, other than Roko 'Seismic' Simic's efforts today. Michael Reindorf continued his Final Destination type elimination of first team managers this week, adding David Hughes to Erol Bulut, Omar Riza and Inigo Calderon. Quite a body count for only 15 months as a senior player.

The latest lamb to the slaughter is Christian Fuchs at Newport. He started with a 3-0 defeat at Oldham and, fatefully, brought Reindorf on. The die is cast, just hand in your resignation tomorrow and move on.

It’s turning out to be an absolute pig of a loan deal that. I wonder what he is learning in a team benefit of confidence, rooted to the foot of the football league, without a consistent manager and only coming on for the last 20 mins

Giles and Spiers got half an hours game time as they came on as subs in Eastleigh’s win at Boston’s today.

They like our Academy products there. Kieron Evans, Lloyd Humphries and James Waite all started.

I just posed this on X but didn’t realise Humphries was one of ours, not a name I remember.

I've forgotten most of the things I knew about him but maybe TOBW can help out a bit. He was a good player and very distinctive, he had no hair even when he was coming through the Academy. Injuries slowed his progress here and he never got close to the first team even though we didn't release him till he was into his 20s. I've a feeling he had a brother in the Academy who was a keeper but I may be imagining that.

Scott Bartlett is Eastleighs manager. Former FGR & WsM manager, moved to Eastleigh in September. He’s always had a good relationship with City and in his 6 years @ WSM I’m pretty sure he regularly loaned in City youngsters.

Humphries scored a superb goal Jn what I think was the first game I saw him play - an under 18 match at Leckwith one Saturday lunchtime. He was always able to strike a ball well, but he wasn’t a regular goalscorer as he seemed to occupy more of a Ryan Wintle role. I:ve not checked, but I have a suspicion he was an unused sub for the FA Cup loss at Gillingham a few years ago- if he wasn’t a sub that day, I’m pretty sure he was in the party which travelled to it.
