Just to round off the loaned out players for this weekend, Michael Reindorf got 90 minutes in for Newport yesterday but they lost 2-1 at home to MK Dons, whose goals were scored by Nathaniel Mendez-Laing and Callum Paterson.

I actually think Horvath is better than Ward. Horvath at least got two teams promoted. Ward is most famous for getting Leicester relegated 7 seasons after they won the Premiership.

Think you may be awarding a bit too much credit/blame to both individuals there! I doubt many Forest/Luton fans would single out Horvath as the one who "got" them promoted, if he got Forest promoted with his 6 league appearances then you could easily claim he got us relegated with his appaling record last season

And in fairness Ward was an integral part of Huddersfield's promotion as well as Wales getting out of the group at Euro 2021, big performances against both Switzerland & Turkey

The loan report is a different animal at the moment. Basically all players that are out on loan are in essence in the departure lounge. Whilst all the 20 year old kids are playing for the 1st team.

I'm not sure which of the youngsters are now ready for a loan, the ones that are most likely to progress to the 1st team Twose, Giles, Perrett and Mafico are all 18/19 probably a bit young for a league 2 loan. Spiers and Nyakuhwa are a possibility but the 1st team are a little light in their positions.

Not much to report over the past week or so. The five players involved in games last weekend managed one point between them, Roko Simic's Karlsruher got a draw at Fortuna Dusseldorf (for whom Jesper Daland didn't make the squad), and none of their teams scored a goal. Reinforcements are on the way though, Isaac Jefferies and Morgan Wigley should be good for a goal or two in the Welsh Premier with TNS and Barry respectively.

A quick mention for Truro City. We had Ryan Kavanagh on loan there a couple of seasons ago as they avoided relegation from the National League South. They've since moved into a new stadium and been promoted to the National League, the first Cornish team to reach that level. Having their own stadium means they don't have to travel hundreds of miles for home games any more but promotion has added distance to their away days.

From stadium to stadium (and back) they'll be travelling 14,474 miles for their 23 away games this season, an average of 629 miles. They're off to Carlisle on Saturday (878 mile round trip) which will help prepare them for their trip to Gateshead later in the season (930 miles). Not places where you'd want to let the coach go without you after the game. There seems to be a novelty value for rival fans making the trip to Truro, York brought over 400 (for an 800 mile round trip) while Southend brought over 700 (680 miles). It will be interesting to see how many Truro take to Carlisle on Saturday.

I've watched a couple of National League games in the last two nights.

Last night it was Truro v Aldershot and on Tuesday it was Wealdstone v Southend. Both matches were great fun with plenty of goals and dodgy keeping and refereeing. I can't find a video kf last night's match, but it's worth trying to find one to see Paul Durkin's son's decision to send off the Aldershot keeper - I've only seen the incident once, but the red card looked a real shocker.

Aldershot took 176 fans on Tuesday which was a good effort considering they'd played at Gateshead at the weekend. Joe Ralls was down to watch but withdrew as a precaution.

A debut for Jesper Daland today as Fortuna Dusseldorf won 2-1 away in 2.Bundesliga. I haven't got many details but it looked as though he was part of a back three. I don't know much about that division but I think there's a thread about it on here so maybe we'll get some updates on the form of Daland and Simic as the season progresses. I found out today that Fortuna were named after a bakery (and that Hertha Berlin were named after a steamship) so I'm going to bed a wiser man than when I woke up.

Roko Simic started for Karlsruher in a 2-1 win over bottom club Nurnberg yesterday, starts for Reindorf and Horvath too in a draw and loss for Newport and Sheffield Wednesday respectively. Kion Etete missed Rotherham's game through injury.

A mixed bag for our lads in the Welsh Premier League. Luke Armstrong was on the bench for Penybont after being on international duty, Isaac Jefferies came on for TNS in their 6-0 win over Llanelli while Morgan Wigley came on and scored for Barry in their 4-0 win over Bala. A nice assist for City old boy Ryan Kavanagh in that game. He finally seems to be fit and playing regularly, it's a shame injury ruined his progress here.

Not much to write home about this week. I'm home already so there'd be no point anyway. Ethan Horvath got an 8/10 off the Sheffield Star for his part in Wednesday's 2-0 win at Portsmouth but no luck elsewhere.

Both our players in Germany suffered 3-0 defeats, Daland started for Fortuna Dusseldorf, Simic came on as sub for Karlsruher. Michael Reindorf started for Newport as they lost 3-1 at home to Gillingham but only Morgan Wigley of our three lads in the Welsh Premier League got some game time as he came off the bench for Barry in a 0-0 draw at Flint. Kion Etete is still injured for now (yes, really) so missed Rotherham's home defeat against Stockport.

79 minutes for Michael Reindorf on Saturday. No league goals for him as yet but a record could be on the way as Newport went down 4-1 at Chesterfield. Having been relegated from the Championship with us and from League One with Bristol Rovers last season, Newport are only out of the League 2 relegation zone on goal difference so the hat-trick is on. Maybe his agent could reach for the stars by trying to sort out a move to Burnley in January to make the grand slam a possibility.

Only a 6 out of 10 from the Sheffield Star for Ethan Horvath this week as Wednesday drew 1-1 with QPR. He didn't seem to have done anything wrong, I think the reporter may have had a shandy too many after last week's win and then got a bit carried away with his after match summary (he'd said Bailey Cadamarteri had been 'spunky' which I found rather unsavoury to be honest). Wednesday's mascot, Barney the Owl, has spoken out about the issues involving owner Dejphon Chansiri and got involved in Saturday's protest. Here's an article on it.

Kion Etete has recovered from his knee injury and came on for 13 minutes as they lost 2-1 to Mansfield and are in the bottom four in League 1.

Not much happening with our lads in the Welsh League at the weekend. Isaac Jefferies was missing from the TNS squad as they won 2-0 (a goal for City old boy Jack Bodenham there), Morgan Wigley came on in Barry's 0-0 draw and Luke Armstrong came on at half time for Penybont as they won 1-0 with a goal from another old boy, Jac Clay. Ex-City lad and loan legend James Crole (he played a total of one minute of league football in spells at Torquay and Queen's Park) came up with a hat-trick and an assist in Penybont's 4-0 win at Cardiff Met in the week.

Isaac Jefferies came up with his first goal for TNS yesterday as they beat Barry 4-0. Comedian Mark Steel was at the game for some reason. I'm not sure what he made of Isaac's substitute appearance but as he's a right winger I doubt Steel was impressed. (I've just noticed that joke was copyrighted by Basil Brush in 1973 so Mike might have to delete it at some point). Morgan Wigley came on for Barry in the same game and Luke Armstrong kept a clean sheet for Penybont.

Another home game and another protest from Sheffield Wednesday fans against owner Dejphon Chansiri. A 5-0 defeat to Coventry won't have improved the mood. Ethan Horvath seemed to have been relatively blameless though and pulled off some good saves in a 6/10 performance.

Michael Reindorf sees a third relegation in two seasons looming larger after another defeat, 1-0 at home to Swindon, sent Newport to the bottom of League 2. Michael came on in the 57th minute and fired a good shot off straight away but it wasn't Newport's day. Again. Their fans were singing 'you're nothing special, we lose every week' as Swindon fans celebrated their goal. Hopefully they'll be giving that another airing on Tuesday.

Plenty of goals elsewhere. Kion Etete played the first half of Rotherham's 2-2 draw with Bradford in the week, Roko Simic came on late in Karlsruher's 3-3 draw and Jesper Daland was sacrificed with 10 minutes to go with Fortuna Dusseldorf 2-1 down but they ended up losing 3-2 to Nurnberg.
