Re: Attendances holding up well
Probably fortunate that Plymouth, Bradford and Reading brought more than most championship clubs would have, Orient brought more than I thought they would too. I guess we are new meat for quite a few aswell as we haven’t been this low for almost 25 years.Originally posted by The Lone Gunman View PostAttendances so far:
19,615 v Peterborough
17,555 v Rotherham
21,813 v Plymouth
22,132 v Bradford
15,814 v Burton
18,528 v Orient
20,363 v Reading
Can't imagine the likes of Mansfield, Doncaster, Wigan and Wycombe will bring many, but some of the turnouts so far have been surprisingly good so it's difficult to be sure.
Plus there’s the “we can go to Cardiff now” excitement for many who wouldn’t have braved it back in the old days….

I think you raise a good point there.Originally posted by kendoddsdadsdogsdead View PostThe 19000 average last year..the was probably no more than 10000 actually in the ground for quite a few of those games.
Feels like this years 19000 is actually nigh on correct
All one needs to do is look around and it is obvious more people are actually physically there, WANTING TO ATTEND, so it is probably a truer reflection of season ticket holder numbers. Add to that the really good way in which away fans come in numbers and it can only be a good thing, as it generates a better atmosphere and adds another enjoyable aspect to the day.
As has already been pointed out, if the success on the pitch continues, we will probably see more people attend. Long may it continue.

Re: Attendances holding up well
As said above, that's a good point really. Don't think it changes much of what's been said, but in terms of actual attendance, I'd say it's up on last season in reality.Originally posted by kendoddsdadsdogsdead View PostThe 19000 average last year..the was probably no more than 10000 actually in the ground for quite a few of those games.

I'm surprised clubs can get away with lying about attendance tbh.

Really?Originally posted by ninian opinian View PostMeanwhile, the Jacks attendances have been very poor. They must be missing us.
Swansea is not a big city and Swansea are not a big football club. Never have been, never will be. However, their average last season was 15,503, while average so far this season is 15,611.
Considering how much bigger Cardiff is than Swansea in terms of population and how much bigger our catchment area is compared to theirs, the fact that we're getting approximately 3,700 more through the turnstiles on average is nothing to crow about.

I live about six miles away from their stadium and believe me, plenty of their fans think they are a big club. All I heard about during the summer was Snoop Dogg, Modric and League One.Originally posted by The Lone Gunman View PostReally?

14,200 there tonight, no crowing but the trend is downwards for those Jackdaws

But you know as well as I do that a decent percentage of football fans are delusional, regardless of what team they support.Originally posted by Harry Lime View PostI live about six miles away from their stadium and believe me, plenty of their fans think they are a big club.
Swansea never has been and never will be a big football club. It's no more complicated than that really.

Re: Attendances holding up well
As we’ve now had ten home League One matches, I thought it would be a good time to revisit this thread. To be honest, I reckon a couple of our recent crowds have been a bit disappointing given our league position.
The full list so far is as follows:
19,615 v Peterborough
17,555 v Rotherham
21,813 v Plymouth
22,132 v Bradford
15,813 v Burton Albion
18,528 v Leyton Orient
20,363 v Reading
18,174 v Mansfield
16,048 v Huddersfield
18,934 v Doncaster
The top five averages in League One are as follows:
21,853 - Bolton Wanderers
20,588 - Bradford City
18,898 - Cardiff City
16,906 - Huddersfield Town
15,577 - Plymouth Argyle
So, City’s average for 2025/26 is currently down by 446 on last season’s average when the team was sat at the bottom of the Championship (19,344). Not bad by any means, but perhaps not quite as good as it should be either.
