Are you saying if we had 10 solid seasons on the Premier League, we wouldn’t average 40,000 if we had the stadium capacity?

Historic attendance figures have been impressive.
10 solid seasons in the premier league would obviously have a big impact - it ins't something we've managed at any point in our history is it?

Even then I think we would struggle to average over 40k even if the ground would allow it - obviously for big glamour ties the numbers would be there but I think 40k is more than I'd expect once the novelty had worn off a bit.

Very few clubs average over 40k

Maybe but then the north east and parts of yorkshire I'd say have some equally deprived towns/areas yet some of those clubs are massive in comparison.

I honestly think it's just a factor of success. If we had more of it over the years some of the flakier fans would have remained and passed the tradition onto family. If you aren't in the premier league (div 1) competing with these teams on the pitch then the more you compete with them off it for the fanbase.

Hmmm , we averaged 31,408 following one season in the Premier League last time around , with an away capacity of 3,000 which was not always sold out and a stadium capacity of 33,280.

With a bigger away end in a 45,000 capacity stadium I’ve no doubt we would average 40,000 with ten seasons as an established Premier League club.

Plenty of teams don’t average 40,000 as they are simply not as big in population as Cardiff and have other clubs to compete with.

Prior to the new stadium there is no way as a L 1 club would City attract 33,027 for a game against Chelsea in a cup match that was pretty much pointless.

I don't need to ask BBM or Warnock or McCarthy or fans who support other clubs. I know what Cardiff is. I've been supporting the club since 1975.

In terms of attendances, Cardiff City is a mid-ranking second tier club with the potential to attract reasonably big attendances for occasional games. And it's a big club by League One standards, but not as big as some people seem to believe.

It's pointless speculating about what would happen if we had ten years in the Premier League. We've had two, were relegated both times and are currently in League One, where we are ranked third in terms of crowds despite being top of the table. That's the reality, not some pie-in-the-sky dream world.

It's interesting though that you and others seem to believe Cardiff City would attract large crowds on a regular basis under such circumstances. Does that mean the transport system, poverty levels, disposable income, competition with the rubgy and other attractions, etc, wouldn't matter if the club was established in the top flight?

As for historic attendance figures being impressive, what periods are you talking about specifically?

Given the circumstances, the fact that we had an average of 31:408 in one season in the Premier League with a season ticket holder waiting list is even more impressive than I thought

We sold out our permitted season tickets in the premier league. I sincerely doubt they all turned up for night games and bank holidays due to the transportation issues and other mitigations already raised

The problem with you in general is that you love to talk down about the club at every given opportunity and I don’t agree with your opinion or rationale.

BBM has mentioned how taken back he was as to how big this club is , as have other people who have worked within the professional football world.

I'm calling him media trained and not stupid TWG1. I'm also pretty sure that when a manager says that the fans of his current club are the best in the world they don't necessarily mean it. No harm in it, they're just playing the game

Warnock very often played on the ‘Plucky little Cardiff’ thing mind, then again he was an out & out wrong ‘un, who ruined our finances, which we're still recovering from.

Sounds like your calling him (BBM) out , and I take it you have spoken to him in one of these fan meetings also have you , not just what he was media trained to say, ?

Never spoken to him in my life, it's just common sense. It's not even a remotely controversial opinion I've posted, there is absolutely zero doubt that you're TWG1 because only you would be sensitive and antagonistic enough to turn a comment about how a new manager isn't going to come in and not big up the size of the club into OH IT SOUNDS LIKE YOU'RE CALLING THE MANAGER OUT

That's fine. You're perfectly entitled to your opinion as far as I'm concerned. But you've stated that our 'historic' attendance figures have been impressive. I asked which periods you're referring to and you've swerved the question. That's a shame as I think many of the historic figures paint a pretty accurate picture of the club's support levels.

As for talking the club down, I don't believe that pointing out realities is doing that.

City are top of League One at present. Nevertheless, on average, we're getting smaller crowds than Bolton, who are sixth, and Bradford, who are third. I think that's a bit disappointing, particularly as the team contains a number of local youngsters, it's playing reasonably well and the manager is a likeable character. I think a couple of the recent attendances could have and should have been a bit bigger. If that's talking the club down, then so be it.

Have you ever looked at your posts at all , I think it’s already been said by other posters what you’re like and it doesn’t make a good impression at all on you.

Don’t take it personally what other people think if it doesn’t work for you, it’s no good for you or your blood pressure.

So, have you been to any of the fans forums and spoke with BBM on his impressions of the club or do you think it’s media bias

The last 16 years have been very good. Historically there have been impressive attendance figures particularly between 1946 and 1955 with some attendance figures over 60,000.
FA Cup games with Leeds in 72, Everton in 78 ? Hereford in 76 ? And we hold the Third Division South attendance record of over 49,200
