Sincere apologies for pointing out that your original claim wasn't factually accurate, numb nuts.

The average after 10 games last season was 18,490, so this season's average is up by 408.

However, there was a significant factor in last year's average at this stage - it included four midweek games, and three of those crowds featured among the four lowest of last season (Millwall, QPR and Preston). In fact, the club's seven lowest league attendances last season were for matches on Tuesday or Wednesday evenings. Not in the least bit surprising, but it shows how significant midweek games are when considering the overall averages.

So far this season we've had just one midweek home league game. That was against Burton and the crowd of 15,813 was unsurprisingly our lowest of the season to date. In the new year, we have midweek games scheduled against Barnsley, Wimbledon and Wycombe. I don't expect we'll see big crowds for any of those.

I think crowds will ramp up considerably after Christmas

A load of half season tickets sold, the team hopefully still doing well, so each game matters more.

I think we will have a few in the high twenty thousands by the seasons end.

It’s hard to argue that our average attendance of close to 20000 for league 1 is disappointing.

              Has anyone made that claim?

Id love to be proved wrong but I don't see us getting a few in the high 20,000s in this division.

The Bolton game in April could see a relatively big crowd depending on the circumstances at the time. Can’t see any other games likely to get 25,000+, but stranger things have happened.

He said he was disappointed that crowds haven’t been increasing as the season has developed.

I think they’ve held up well overall, but the last three have been a bit disappointing. The clash with the egg chasing was ill-advised for the Mansfield game and a 12:30 kick-off for Huddersfield wasn’t ideal, but I reckon the crowds for those games in particular should have been a little bigger.

Obviously lots of water to flow under the bridge yet, but I think if we are still pushing for promotion and need to win (ironically being ten points clear would probably reduce some interest) then I could see all three of Aprils home games getting very big crowds, especially if the club used one as a promotion, which would be wise to try and drum up interest for season ticket sales etc.

One thing you can guarantee from south Wales public is if there’s any glory at the end of it, they’ll be turning up so I fully expect 23k 24k at that point.

Hardly unique to South Wales, even clubs with “good fans” have their fickle ones.

A decade ago Elland Road was half full and now Leeds are looking at building a 50k+ stadium.

In League One, Coventry were averaging crowds of less than 10k.

Derby and Newcastle however, are two clubs whose crowds don’t seem to be affected by bad seasons and good seasons.

                              Norwich City another.

In fact, after just looking it up, it’s been 20 years(aside from the covid year) since their average attendance wasn’t close to capacity.

                              Capacity 27k
Their average hasn’t been below 24k
                              Mostly 26k+

And that includes dip into League 1 as well.

Norwich, though, does anything else happen there?
