If someone asked you the time you would probably answer Half past one and Maggie was a bitch.
The point is , I don't give a toss about many etc etc

He's going to lose his job , possibly be fined and possibly get sent down

    Bloody good too

But you go off on your nonsense as usual

I think you should set up a support group for these poor hooligans of the far right , it will give you something to do

Why don't you shut up then if you don't care and don't have anything to add?

It's perfectly acceptable to talk about it as a news story and say it's a shocking thing to say and mad that people are cheering and applauding it.

3 - I'm not saying it justifies the riots in any way.

              0/3.

And why shouldn't people talk about it? It was the second story on the BBC 10 o'clock news FFS. It's worthy of mention. It's Sludge that escalates things with his usual personal insults.
The problem is that your first involvement in this thread was to talk about 'underlying issues'.. I get that you don't agree with the violence and think that they should get sent down/taken off the streets but it comes across an excuse for it, or at least a reason. As I've said before, I don't think anything these idiots have said or done remotely reflects the opinion that migration should be managed/balanced or beneficial to the UK, so I don't know why you would want to associate the two groups together.

When the news story is riots... Your take is 'how awful, but why aren't we talking about why they are doing it/feel that way' but when the story is the labour councillor inciting violence and people cheering, your take is 'how awful'.

It comes across as though you think what he did is worse, but what it's worth I don't actually believe you do think that.

Very harsh, compare that to rapists and blokes stabbing people saying it was an accident, and getting off with man slaughter, just making examples while real hardened criminals do whatever they want for years.

Yes they are idiots but there is one rule for one and one for another, but I suppose we already know that as football fans, and we all know they are just making examples of people to stop future riots.

They had better be consistent in the future, people won't tolerate any more two-tier policing now it's been raised and in the public domain.

On the basis of that, you have to imagine that councillor who told people to slit throats is in a spot of bother. He's in an influential role, feasible to suggest people might listen to him and he is instructing them to murder people.

How long will the two women punching idiots in Manchester airport get, it had better be a long time after these tough sentences, they caused riots and assaulted police officers.

Yes a direct comparison, although the councilor was ten times worse in a public place and videoed it to the public, and saying to cut their throats not just attack, that has to be a much longer sentence.

                          Are these harsh then?

Five activists have received prison sentences of between four and five years over the disruption.

Or is this apparently brand new "two tier policing" just some right wing buzzword bollocks?

The country is not in a great way and that creates a climate where sparks will create riots. It doesn't justify it in anyway but it does partly explain it.

They talked about it on news night last night - I'm not sure if you watched it but it was very interesting.

Larry Elliot - one of the few people left at the guardian with much sanity is talking about it here too, so that should give you an idea.

That article is something of an exercise in the bleeding obvious isn’t it?

I’m quite quiet on this board lately because the Government responsible for creating the sort of conditions that played such a part in making the UK the country it is today have gone. So far, the new Government have been as wishy washy as I feared they would be, except when it comes to Starmer dealing with the left in his party.

However, I don’t think a Government of any colour that has only been in power for a month can be held directly responsible for the riots and even the Conservative Governments since 2010 can only be held responsible up to a degree.

I don’t think anyone is denying that life is hard for certain people in all areas of the UK, so why is it that two of the countries that make up our country have seen no riots (the attempt to start one in Cardiff last weekend was a dismal flop)? Why is it that other members of the public in the cities in England that were exactly the sort of places which were thought to be prime candidates for such disturbances (eg Middlesbrough and Liverpool) were on the streets the following clearing up the mess and damage left by the rioters?

The ages of many of the people jailed so far are an eye opener - middle aged or even old men who are, for me, beyond redemption. Governments whether red or blue could have done far more to make the lives of the thugs and louts who were arrested, charged and, probably, jailed better, but it wouldn’t have made any difference to how they think and they are the sort of bastards who respond when the likes of Robinson whistles.

And before you start, that Labour councillor is just as bad and he deserves everything he gets.

Just a guess but a) your reach is actually less in person than on the internet and b) I don't know if sentencing is related to if somebody did it or not. You could argue that the hotel might not have been attacked if he hadn't told people to do it.

It is a direct call to do something to specific people, no doubt about that. I don't think the slitting throat hand gesture helps him...

Exactly, if somebody is out on the streets attacking black people and Muslims then 'reducing immigration' isn't their aim, its a country without black people and Muslims, I don't understand was James is so keen to align the rioters to his own/the mainstream belief that immigration is too high and needs reducing. These people are racists and the majority of people who want less immigration aren't.

Also the irony of James accusing somebody of changing their tune since the election is not lost. Under the previous government, anytime anybody posted anything remotely negative about the state of the country he would counter to prove it was actually really good, now we are 'in a bad way'.
