Seems the Tories in opposition and the Tories on here are just as divisive and dangerous as they've always been. They learn nothing, have no humility and quite a lot of the time are wanting in humanity.

The fact that people are parroting the obviously political slant of two-tier policing is pretty low tbh. Says a lot about the people who do it.

I spoke to a very frightened Muslim neighbour in Grangetown yesterday who was heartened by the anti-fascist stance in many cities around the UK.

Some of you should be ashamed at the open racism on this board. You know who you are. Just keep bleating on about the 'underlying causes' without actually being able to state what they are for fear of finally revealing your hand.

Ah the “bleeding obvious” article. One of the few laughable things to come out of this whole affair was seeing the man who was telling people to f*ck off back to France a few months ago saying that it was just a bunch of young lads having one more than they should have letting off steam. I try to avoid whataboutism, but I can’t help wondering if your desire to tackle underlying causes would have been as apparent on here if it all happened back in the spring under a different Government.

My view is that tackling the underlying causes, whatever they’re supposed to be, would have meant that there would have been less hangers on who were stood watching the action, rather than joining in, but the hard core would have reacted exactly as they did over the past ten days. It’s a little bit like those extra few thousand who turn out for City home games against the likes Swansea, Bristol City and Leeds - I’m not saying that they’re all there because of the chance of a scrap, but a lot of them are.

The underlying cause of the violence we saw after the Southport murders was, for me, the fact that there are always racists who are prepared to answer a call to action from the type of grifters and rabble rousers who should also be receiving a visit from the police in the next few days - there’s growing evidence that the original, deliberate, misidentification of the murderer did not come from the sort of downtrodden, working class folk in need of more understanding that you’re now concerned about, it was from individuals, who are certainly not short of a bob or two, out to exploit them.

If I'm honest Bob, I've lost track of what we are debating here.

We all agree violence is wrong. We all agree calling for throat slitting is wrong, we all agree there are deep rooted social problems in the UK, of which we may debate the causes to some extent.

So I'm not sure what the big dispute is?

The partner of a Tory councillor has appeared in court charged with one count of publishing written material to stir up racial hatred.

Lucy Connolly, 41, appeared at Nottingham magistrates court on Saturday via a live link and did not enter a plea.

The court was told that Connolly, from Northampton, allegedly wrote a post on X, on the day of the Southport knife killings, that said: “Mass deportation now, set fire to all the ****ing hotels full of the bastards for all I care … If that makes me racist, so be it.”

The district judge, Rahim Allen-Khimani, told Connolly the matter was “too serious for this court to deal with”.

She was remanded in custody until her next court appearance at Northampton crown court on Monday.

Connolly, who was wearing a pink jumper, is the partner of the Conservative West Northamptonshire councillor Raymond Connolly.

I don't get why you would have an issue with it? I refuse to believe you thnk it's normal for elected politicians to talk about throat slitting is normal?
